The Silk Room

Ha ha so funy because I read couple of the same comments said how great the restaurant was. It seems the owner or manager made it up to make them look good. Be realistic people...

Had dinner at Silk last night after making reservations on-line because no one picks up the phone if you try to make reservations by phone. First thing I was asked by the Manager was do you have a voucher then do you have reservations?? I had purchased a couple of vouchers through Dealfind. I showed her my confirmation printout of the reservations but I was not recorded in the book. She was EXTREMELY rude and told me that you could not make reservations online and we would have to come back another night. She definitely did not have a clue how to deal with customers. I was absolutely furious since the restaurant was NOT busy at all. I refused to leave and told her that we would wait. She said we would have to wait a long time ... but proceeded to seat us within 2 minutes. The service was excellent, the food was excellent and reasonably priced but I was so furious at her that I really did not enjoy my meal. If she is the manager (I doubt she is) ... she should be fired because she is not good for business.

Great food, service and staff!

I was taken to The Silk Room this past week-end and was extremely impressed.
The Thai cusine was the best I have ever had, the atmosphere was inviting and the service, excellent.
I would suggest that they advertise that they specialize in Thai, as it is not mentioned anywhere. Had I not been taken there by someone who had gone there on several occassions, I would never have tried this restaurant.
Now it has become my favorite.

Have dined at The Silk Room many times and always enjoyed the food and the service. The staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Nasty food, nasty service, nasty people

My boyfriend and I have been at Silk Room 3 times. All those times we have seen the employees disrespected. A couple of weeks ago was the last straw. We cannot possibly go to a restaurant where the employees are disrespected, especially by the Manager. Me and my bf ordered a jug of beer and we were waiting for our pizza. In the meantime, we could hear our waitress in a fight with another waiter. We felt bad for her.. he was calling her names, and telling her f*ck you. As we were the only customers there at the time, we could hear everything. We felt really bad for our waitress, especially since the manager was right there, and she did not say ONE WORD to the guy! What kind of management is that?!
Anyways, she should NEVER MANAGE if she is not going to treat her employees with respect.
We went there a week after this happened, and asked if the girl was still working. Once we found out she was not, we just got up and left. We felt truly bad. Both my boyfriend and I have worked as waiters at Swiss Chalet, and WE HAVE NEVER BEEN DISRESPECTED IN THAT MANNER! If that happened at SWISS CHALET, our manager would put the guy on probation...instead of the poor girl quitting.
Anyhow, I just thought it was important to share, to show what kind of business they are running. I know my boyfriend also gave a rating and comment about this same issue, but it has not been put up yet. THIS STORY HAD TO BE TOLD! And my boyfriend also did add that if the girl is reading this, she should SUE her manager for lost wages. We are NEVER going there again, and NOT recommending this to any of my family or friends. I really hope for the managers sake that she hired the girl back. If not... i would not recommend anyone going back there.

whoever gave them the idea that they will be sucessful? Just from the name and decour it sounds Chinese. I don't know about you... but i am not crazy about Chinese food.

There is nothing good i can say unfortunately. The service was just terrible, the food? ehh... and the environment had a weird look to it! I certainly will not be going there anytime soon.

used to go here when it was MILLERS. now that it is the Silk Room. the food is not that good, the place is not clean. and glasses are even dirtier. i have had a clean glass once,and i expected the same girl to be working again (i used to go on thursdays) turns out she was no longer there. Anyway, the service that i got was not that good, and as i said...the glasses were dirty.

Not good at all. Went there a couple of weeks ago, and the manager kept following us. Kind of creepy.

Dear Miss Le, Owner Manager of The Silk Room.
My friend & i were over at The Silk Room for lunch last week, just to let you know Miss Le, we tried your Phad Thai & your House Burger with french fries.Your Burger size was a jumbo, so thick juicy they were generously portioned.So delicious perfect for our taste!
To top it all, we had 2 glasses of your house red wine and a pint of beer and 2 coffees plus a friendly waitress with an extra knowledged in culinary hospitality........thank you Miss Le you with full of grace. Good luck!

peaceful atmosphere, unique decor and great food and beverage menu.

Ecclectic menu but all good. Having just opened earlier in 2009, the management and staff go overboard in making you feel welcome and offering excellent value for money. I felt I had to overtip as the total was so little for a great meal and superb service. It's must go before it gets too well known.

Really good food and the value for money is exceptional food and alcohol.
