Had a quick lunch while in the area, a big panzerotti covered in pasta sause. I loved it but could not finish it, it was too much for me. Anyways I recommend it other. Roger
I enjoyed the food especially now that Sal is not cooking there anymore. The pizza dough is great and the sauce is wonderfull. I would recommend Al Forno to anyone who wants a great meal that is cheaper than MD.
I have been a fan of Al Forno since the first time I went in for lunch. Now, it's a regular favourite. The staff is helpful and quick to serve (including the sweet young boy who helps to clear the tables) and the portions leave you MORE than satisfied.
Ended up going to Al Pizza Forno after we realized that two of our preferred choices were booked solid for lunch. We should have realized that something was wrong because the place was empty when we got there, despite being lunch time...we sat down and ordered the entree off the menu - 1 meat, 1 pasta and veggies for what was supposed to be for $8.99. I ordered the veal, zitti pasta with tomato sauce, some veggies. The veal was chewy and overcooked, pasta was as hard as plastic (I know what el dente mean but another minute would have helped), the sauce was far too salty (usually a sign of a bad cook). The veggies were ok but the entire entree was barely lukewarm. Overall, it was a bad experience. With a bottle of water, the total came to $13.50. We were in a hurry and had a guest from out of town so I didn't dispute the charge. In hindsight, I am having a hard time understanding why a $9 dollar meal with a bottle of water came to $13.50. I don't recall having such a bad lunch experience for this much money...Do yourself a favour and stay away!!!! You are better off getting a donut and coffee from the Tim Hortons to tie you over until you get home for dinner - I guarantee you will have a far better experience
