The quality of the food was excellent. The portions were large and so were the prices. I strongly recommend the red dragon roll and the spicy tuna roll! The service was disorganized but not bad. Will definitely be back!

At Momiji all of the many dishes ordered were bland, tasteless and poorly presented. Even the Soya sauce and Wasabi appeared to be watered down.
We did let the waiter know how we felt but he merely giggled.
Momiji does have a very nice romantic atmosphere with subdued lighting and tasteful decoration but what is the point if the food is terrible

Absolute WORST SERVICE I have ever had in any dining experience. The food was so-so and I could really go to any Japanese restaurant to get it and receive at LEAST average service.

Our experience started when we walked in the door, around 3pm so it was virtually empty - and the service stared at us. She didnt greet us or even smile. Eventually she took us over to our table without speaking. She actually sat us down next to the only other customers in the whole restaurant. They were speaking very loudly and I wanted to have a conversation with my partner, so I asked to be seated at a table across from where she had sat us. She asked me Why? I was SHOCKED! I told her it was because I wanted. She then said in an extremely rude voice, It's the exact same as here So I proceeded to sit down where I wanted to.
Later on, my partner and I were sharing a bowl of Udon noodles so he asked for an extra bowl. She brought a small bowl over, the kind that are used for miso soup. We looked at it and realized it was clearly dirty. There was tofu and onion in the bottle of the bowl and mark around the rim, as someone had clearly just used it for miso soup. We told her and showed her it was dirty but she said It's not dirty. and argued with us for 5 minutes. Eventually she went to bring another bowl but said The bowl WASNT dirty but heres a new one and gave a great sigh and walked away. When we finally wanted to leave we had to ask another server for our bill because she never returned... except to snatch up our payment.

Horrible, horrible time and I will NOT be returning. How people like this even find employment absolutely stuns me. Other servers I have encountered there are not quite as bad, but lacking any personality or class. Be wary of crappy service! There are great number of excellent sushi restaurants in toronto you can go to and actually get good service.

Every time I have been to Momiji on Bloor St. the food has been fresh, and a very peaceful atmosphere, and very good service.

I eat out at the best restaurants in North America at least two or three times a month, but we eat at Momiji as a family most weeks. Momiji is an affordable local restaurant that offers traditional Sushi options. It is not going to be like heading out to Nobu or Japanaise.

You will find friendly staff that have been improving (though we still miss Jinny). We have always found the service to be very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The sushi (nigiri and sashimi) is good, the sushi pizza, the spicy chess roll, and unagi are worth ordering.

The place is always clean and we have never had a problem with chipped plates etc. We are very picky and we eat well, but we do keep coming back to our local.

This is one of the best Sushi Restaurants in the west end of Toronto. Pretty expensive but definitely worth the money. Portions are also significantly larger than most sushi restaurants so the higher cost is relative. The Sushi Pizza is to die for!!!!!!

We had a dinner there a couple of days ago $120 for 2ppl. I was on the phone outside before we entered this place when a older couple walked out and a server behind tham asking what can he do for tham to make tham come back, they refused. We where unshore but wanted to wealk inside at least see the atmosphere. We where properly greeted and started our experience. I asked server about a perticular dish which she told me that she wouldnt recomend and that if I realy wanted she will bring it to try and if i dont like it she wont charge us for it we had fried eal spicy fried squid love boat A or B not shure a botle of $30 vino. Portions r fair size we couldnt finish everything only complaint that we had when server poured our vino she never came back to top our glases of we kinda did it ourselves. Over all this place is great for sushi quality and portion per dollar amount. defenitly coming back

This restaurant has amazing sushi. The service is great and it has a pleasant environment. They have menu choices on the menu and I have tried all of them...I was never disappointed. I will definately be going back a lot and strongly suggest it to other sushi lovers.

It took a long time for the food to arrive and the service is so so. They only have one beer on tap.

Best Japanese restaurant in the city. Best restaurant in the city actually. Food is fresh, very tasty, prices are reasonable, and service is very good.

The rolls and sashimi are to die for. The rolls (Volcano, spicy tuna roll etc...) are filled with meat with just a little bit of rice around it. The sashimi pieces are quite big, very fresh, and never get that frozen taste. The only negative I can think of to balance this review is that the diet coke comes in those little bottles and not in cans so that the serving size is small, but at least it looks nice. I'm going to Japan soon and I just hope the food there is half as good as this restaurant.

This is the about the best Japanese food in Toronto. Great ambiance, too. The service ranges from good to excellent. The only change I would suggest is that they get rid of the TV.

Amazing!!!!! Best sushi I have ever had. The sushi was so fresh! Great service, beautiful restaurant, great staff. Loved the spicy shrimp tempura roll with spicy mayo and the ebi california roll. Can't wait to go back!!!

The service was absolutely wonderful. All the staff was very friendly, and eager to assist customers - I felt very welcome there. Beautiful, comfortable decor and restaurant layout.

Food was great - tasty and fresh. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I'm not sure how this place has a bad review! This restaurant is unbelievable. Loved everything about it! Service was great, food was incredible - best sushi in the city hands down! We tried it last week and decided we are going to be having our Valentines Dinner there. The quality of the fish and the rolls were amazing and very unique! The atmosphere was great! The service was normal - laid back atmosphere. If you are in a hurry, you can run over to Sushi to go down the street - but assuming you are going to a restaurant for an experience and to have a great dinner and to relax, this place is perfect! Loved it!

I normally don't rate restaurants but the above rating shocked me. I am a regular client at momiji which I consider to be one of the best sushi restaurants in the city. The service is good and the sushi is incredible. Although at time service may seem slow, the quality of the rolls and specifically the fish that are served at Momiji is definately worth the wait.
I strongly disagree with the above statement that momiji will be closing its doors. It sounds to me like the person who wrote the comment above is extremely disgruntled however, this is the first time I have heard anyone speak poorly of a wonderful restaurant.

Incredibly poor... Flies bzzing around the restaurant, Chipped plates/servicewear (not little chips, the plate were missing complete corners!!)Salad dressing that seemed very off (when we asked our server about it she said 'Thats the way it is supposed to be.')Service that was painfully slow (took over fifteen minutes for our empty plates to be cleared, finished my beer never even asked if I wanted another, and never asked if the food was even OK) The Only thing about the service that was fast and well done was when the bill arrived...Which upon payment was picked up promptly.

It's such a shame, this restaurant has alot of potential... But with poor food and even poorer service, I don't think it will be long before Momiji is closing it doors for good.
